Finding Surface Area of Oval

Formula:

 Surface area of oval="(L" x W x `pi` )/4

Where,           

            L = Length of the oval

            W = Width of the oval

Steps to find the surface area of oval:

The following steps are used to find the surface area of oval,

Step 1: Calculate the length (l) and width (w) of oval.

Step 2: Use the mathematical` pi ` with the preferred exactness. Note that pi can be rounded to the seconddecimal point for the greater part of calculation. Thus, for these use,`pi` = 3.14.

Step 3: Multiply the length (l) by the width (w) and the `pi.` For (l x w x `pi` )/4 square meters.

Step 4: Multiplythe surface area of the oval (in square meters) by the average oval strength (in meters) and then by 1,000 to compute the oval's volume (capacity).

         Consider the cricket ground length of the ground is 96 square feet and width of the cricket ground is 90 square feet. Then find the surface area of cricket ground?

Solution:

Given,        

          Length of the cricket ground (l) = 96 sq ft

          Width of the cricket ground (w) = 90 sq ft

          Surface area of cricket ground = `(l xx w xx pi)/ 4`

                                                         = `(96 xx 90 xx 3.14)/4`

                                                          = 6782.4 sq ft
          Therefore the surface area of cricket ground = 6782.4sq ft.


Surface area of oval - Example 2:


Considerthe oval length of the oval is 82 square feet and width of the oval is 76 square feet. Then find the surface area of oval?

Solution:

Given,        

Length of the oval (l) = 82 sq ft

Width of the oval (w) = 76 sq ft

Surface area of oval="`(l xx w xx pi)/ 4`

                                      = `(82 xx76 xx 3.14)/4`

                                      = 4892.12 sq ft
Therefore the surface area of oval = 4892.12 sq ft.
